 Reorder Columns

You can use Reorder Columns to rearrange the order your grade book columns are in and to hide or show them.  Clicking on the Reorder Columns button will open up the Reorder Columns screen.

Rearranging Column Order


You can determine the left-to-right order in which columns display in each of the Grade Book tabs. The order of columns is unique to each tab: you can have the Last Name column appear left-most in the Grades tab and have it as the third column in the Members tab.

  1. From any of the Grade Book tabs, click Reorder Columns. Each column that is currently in the tab you started from appears in a list. The top-most column in this list is the left-most column in the tab.
  2. Select each column you want to move by checking the box just to the left of the column name.
  3. Do one of the following:
    • To move the selected columns to the left of a column, under Move, (Circled in green at the upper left of the picture above of the Reorder Columns screen) click the appropriate Insert Selected Items Above icon.
    • To move the selected columns to the right of the last column (furthest to the right or bottom of the list in the Reorder Columns screen) in the tab, at the bottom of the list, under Move, click the Insert Selected Items at Bottom of List icon.   (Circled in red in the bottom left of the picture above of the Reorder Columns screen)
  4. Be sure to click Save at the bottom of the screen.

This is sometimes confusing or non-intuitive for users.  Remember to:
  1. Check the box next to the column you want to move, then
  2. Click the icon   next to the column you want that column to move above.

Hiding and Showing Columns from the Reorder Columns screen

You can use the Hide/Show buttons on the Reorder Columns screen (under the blue arrow at the upper right of the picture above of the Reorder Columns screen) to hide columns you do not wish to see when you view your grade book in a particular tab.  In other words, you can determine which data columns display in each of the Grade Book tabs. Hide and show settings for columns affect only the tab from which they are set. This allows you to show a column in one tab and hide it in another.

The Hide/Show button will say Hide for columns that can be seen in that tab.  If you want to hide that column, click “Hide”, and that column will not be displayed in that tab.  Once you click the Hide button it will then say “Show”. If you want to be able to see that column in that tab, click Show and it will be displayed.
